ASSUMING FORCE OF GRAVITY EXERTS TORQUE
2025
stone, resistance band
ca. 110 x 150 x 50 cm
Two stones—one resting on the floor, the other fixed to the wall—are connected by a stretched resistance band. The work stages a delicate equilibrium in which tension, gravity, and counterforce continuously depend on one another. Although the installation appears stable, it suggests a latent state of movement, as if a subtle shift could transform the entire constellation.
Drawing on physical principles, the sculpture reflects on the invisible forces that shape relationships between bodies, materials, and space. Rather than illustrating gravity, it makes its effects perceptible, inviting viewers to consider how balance emerges through interdependence, resistance, and continuous negotiation.
