VERTICAL MOTION

Vertical Motion explores the relationship between material, force, and equilibrium. An aluminium rod is held in place between the corner of the ceiling and a large stone. Under compression, the rod bends into an arc, revealing the forces acting upon it while simultaneously storing their tension within its own material.

Neither element dominates the other. The weight of the stone, the elasticity of the aluminium, and the architectural space become mutually dependent, each defining the conditions of the whole. Rather than presenting a fixed form, the sculpture exposes a temporary state of balance in which fragility and stability coexist.
